A few years ago, I had an art exhibit entitled the “Oddly Lovely” art show.  To me, this expression best explains the type of art work I do.  How can a painting about domestic violence, murder or meth addiction be beautiful?  I don’t know, but when I look at my paintings, even those dealing with disturbing subject matter, I see not only glowingly gorgeous colors and subtle layering, but also the sort of hope that exists even in desperate situations. A sort of otherworldly hope which permeates the human soul, leaving us determined to survive and prosper . . . .
